The Reckoning by Kelley Armstrong

Rating: 3 stars

Series: Darkest Powers #3

Chloe, Derek, Simon, and Tori were with Andrew and his friends. They weren’t sure who to trust. Were Andrew and his friends working for or against them? Finally the four of them were working as a team instead of fighting as much with each other. Well they were still fighting, but there was more trust.

Obviously since this was the last book the love triangle was resolved. Chloe ultimately chose the guy I thought she would, which was also the guy I was shipping. I wish it had gone down a little differently. Chloe had to rule out one guy to realize it was the other one she really had feelings for. I wish she could have realized on her own who she cared about.

In many ways this was just as good as the other two books, but the ending was abrupt for a finale. Not everything was explained, so it felt like there should have been another book. They only saved themselves from some of the people who were after them. I was left wondering if they were actually safe in the future. At least an epilogue would have helped. There were issues with each Tori and Derek that weren’t wrapped up. There are either short stories or novellas in a book called Darkest Powers Tales that covers the issues with them. Those stories take place after The Reckoning. But those issues were important enough to be included in the trilogy IMO. I don’t want to get another book to find out what happens. At least for die hard fans of this series the stories are available.
